Farne Islands

In front of Seahouses, north of Newcastle, a small archipelago is an essential ornithological reserve.

Excursions to the islands start from Seahouses, a small fishing port on the east coast of England.

The latter, avian flu has wreaked enormous havoc among the birds nesting on the islands and it is no longer possible to land on Staple and Inner Farne. Only outings around the islands are currently possible.

The video below dates from 1999, which is why it is in 4/3. In addition, it was an SD camera, hence the low resolution of the images.

It is there, on Inner Farne, that one of the Arctic Terns perched on my head while I was filming the other adult with the chick in his feathers!
